1. What is Impulsifly?

Impulsifly is a flight search tool.

It helps you to browse through and compare different destinations, travel dates and airlines quickly to get an idea of price. Other travel sites make you enter your origin, destination, travel date, return date and you can only search through a couple of flights at a time.

2. Who can benefit from Impulsifly?

Impulsifly is perfect for the travellers who are somewhat flexible with dates and destinations and are able to adapt their itineraries to take advantage of cheap flights.

To illustrate with a couple of examples:

Say you're a uni student and you have 2 weeks off during end of session break. You want to take a trip somewhere, but it doesn't really matter where just as long as it's within the 2 week break, and it's cheap.

Or say you're working full time. You want to go on a weekend getaway but it doesn't really matter if you go this weekend or next weekend, whichever has the better deal.

Whatever your reason, Impulsifly allows you to quickly browse through some options and get an idea of when and where you could go.

Sounds good? Find yourself a Cheap Flight and take an impulsive holiday!

3. Find the rare bargains

Sometimes the airlines advertise really cheap $1 flights, but you don't know which locations and which days they are available. With Impulsifly you can quickly scroll through all the destinations and dates to find those rare bargains.

New airlines such as Tiger Airways are entering the budget flight market, and the competition is heating up. The airlines are offering more promotional flights and Impulsifly is here to help you take advantage of those promotions.

4. Who sells me the ticket?

Impulsifly is not a travel agency, we do not sell you the ticket. Rather, we are a travel search tool. When you click on one of the flight links, we will redirect you to the airlines website and pre-select the flight for you. That way you're buying from the airline directly. This gives you added security that you're buying directly from the trusted source and you cut out the travel agents commission.

5. What does Impulsifly get out of it?

Impulsifly makes money when you click on our advertisements. Also, Impulsifly is seeking to get a referrers fee when we redirect you to the airlines website. This is a pay per click revenue model (for all of you MBAs) similar to that of Google and Yahoo.

6. What flight are you showing in each of the cells?

In each of the cells, we show the cheapest flights for the day. It could me a morning, afternoon or evening flight, whichever is cheapest. We list all airlines flying to the destination on the day, with the cheapest airline listed first. If a cell is empty, that means there are no flights available to that destination on that day.

When you click on the link, you will be taken directly to the website for that airline. We preselect the flight for you and put you right on the page where you will be able to select from different times.

7. Where are the return flights?

When you click on the destination, an additional row will appear showing the return flights. There are 2 scroll bars so you can check out different dates for the 'To' and the 'From' flights.

For example if you searched for the cheapest international destinations for Sydney you will see a list of destination names on the left. Try click on the destination!

8. Sometimes when I click on the link, the flights are priced differently?

The accuracy of the pricing is dependent entirely on how often we manage to refresh our data. Sometimes by the time you click the link, the flight has already been purchased. At the moment, we are refreshing every second day and hope to increase this frequency in the near future.

We pre-download all the data before you visit so that we can show you many destinations and dates at once. There is too much data shown to download it from the airlines real-time when you visit.

9. What does 'Impulsifly' mean?

'Impulse-si-fly' is a play on the words impulsively and fly. The goal is that through Impulsifly you can find really cheap flights so that you can take an impulsive holiday.

10. Why are there no Qantas flights?

Qantas flights are never one of the cheapest (but don't quote us). Jetstar is Qantas's budget airline, and they sell their discount tickets through Jetstar. Thus, it is more informative to compare Jetstar's tickets with Virgin Blue and Tiger Airways.

11. How come Return flight from international destinations have two prices?

The first price is the Australian amount using latest exchange rates. The second price is the actual cost in the local currency provided by the airline. We thought it would be difficult to compare using local currencies, so we've taken the liberty to show an approximate of the cost in Australian dollars. 12. What's coming in the future?

The next step for us is to add more budget international airlines, such as VAustralia.

We are also planning to add in some 'Advanced filters' so you can better tailor your search. These filters include:
  • Number of Passengers - E.g. only show a price if 4 tickets are available.
  • Time of day for flights - E.g. only show me afternoon flights.
  • Price of tickets - E.g. only show me flights less than $150.
You are very welcome to suggest other improvements!

13. Can I give you some feedback?

Of course! We are honoured that you would take the time to let us know what you think! Send us a quick email, or simply post a comment on our blog.
